Firewood

16 questions

From 450 Lei/m³; the final price depends on species, quantity and delivery method.

All three are slow-burning hardwoods; hornbeam and oak have a very good heating value.

A solid cubic meter is solid wood; a ster is stacked wood with air gaps (roughly 0.6–0.65 m³ of solid wood per ster).

Yes, plus Prahova; we also offer home delivery.

No.

Yes.

For a standard 100 m² house with good insulation, we estimate roughly 5–7 stacked cubic meters (sters) of hardwood. Flats or well-insulated houses use 3–5 sters. We can adjust for your climate zone and type of stove/boiler.

Firewood can be delivered at different stages of drying, and this should be confirmed before ordering. Galle Silva delivers hardwood firewood — oak, hornbeam and beech — in Prahova, Ilfov and Bucharest, and when we quote we tell you clearly which type of wood is available.

Freshly cut wood is not ideal for immediate burning because it contains more moisture, is harder to light and can produce more smoke. For better efficiency, the wood should be split, stored with good airflow and allowed to dry before use.

Wood usually produces a lot of smoke when it is too damp, when the firebox does not have a good draught, or when the wood is stacked too tightly. Hardwood only burns well if it is stored correctly and has enough air during combustion.

Firewood should be stored raised off the ground, covered on top and left open on the sides for ventilation. Wrapping it completely in plastic is not recommended, as the moisture stays trapped and mould can appear.

For firewood, volume is usually more meaningful than weight, because green wood weighs more due to its water content. When comparing offers, clearly ask for the unit of measure, the form of delivery and whether transport is included.

A cubic meter of wood can last very differently depending on the house, insulation, stove or boiler, temperature and how dry the wood is. Galle Silva can deliver with no minimum quantity, so you can order gradually according to your consumption.

The number of crates or pallets depends on the size of the packaging and how the wood is stacked. The most accurate approach is to check the declared volume for each crate or pallet, not just the number of pieces or the weight.

Firewood is intended for burning and is sold according to calorific value, species, size and degree of drying. Construction timber has to meet different requirements for quality, drying, cutting and strength, so it should not be confused with firewood.

Yes, Galle Silva does not require a minimum quantity for firewood. We deliver in Prahova, Ilfov and Bucharest, and the price starts from 450 lei/m³, depending on the order, availability and transport.

Delivery

4 questions

Usually within 1–3 days of confirmation, depending on the area — 7 days at most during the busy season (October–December).

Yes, we also offer pickup from the roadside landing, at a lower price than home delivery. You will need your own transport.

The delivery time depends on stock, location, quantity and the transport route. Galle Silva offers firewood delivery in Prahova, Ilfov and Bucharest, and the specific deadline is confirmed when you place the order.

Unloading in the yard depends on access, available space, the type of vehicle and the ground conditions. Galle Silva can discuss these details before delivery so that we avoid blockages at the gate, narrow roads or soft ground.

Payment

2 questions

Yes. Payment on delivery — cash or card (POS) — or by bank transfer. For institutions and companies we issue invoices with payment terms.

Yes, an invoice can be issued for firewood orders. It is advisable to request the invoice and the documents accompanying the delivery, especially when you order larger quantities or purchase for a company.

Timber harvesting

6 questions

In short: an APV (the official harvesting valuation document) and the harvesting permit, issued through the forest district office managing the forest. We guide you through the whole process.

Mechanised harvesting: the machine fells, delimbs and cuts the tree to length, quickly and with minimal soil impact.

No. Legal harvesting is only possible based on the APV and the harvesting permit.

It depends on volume and terrain; with mechanised equipment, significantly faster than by hand. We give you a timeline after the assessment.

Yes, we have our own trucks for transport.

A „partidă" is a batch of timber identified for harvesting, while the „parchet" is the forest area where the harvesting takes place. In practice, these terms appear in forestry documents and help organise the work legally.

Timber purchasing

7 questions

Contact us — we come out for an assessment and make you an offer. We handle the technical side.

Timber still in the forest, unharvested, inventoried and valued in a lot/APV.

Yes, both standing and processed timber (from the roadside landing or the depot).

Based on species, volume, quality and accessibility, following the on-site assessment.

For harvesting, yes; we help you with the steps and the paperwork.

Yes, Galle Silva can assess both standing timber and processed wood, depending on the species, volume, quality, location and documents. For an accurate valuation we need details about the wood, the paperwork and access for transport.

Yes, private forest land requires management or forestry services through an authorised forest district office. Timber harvesting is carried out with the appropriate documents and markings, not just through a direct arrangement with a felling company.

6 questions

It depends on the area, vegetation density and access; request a quote with photos/video of the site.
