Why are FSC / PEFC more important than ISO for wood?
FSC and PEFC certifications directly verify the source of the wood — provenance from sustainably managed forests and the chain of custody down to the consumer. ISO 9001 / 14001 are about process and organisational management — useful, but no substitute for product traceability.
